What’s going to happen to Superman in 2025?
Back in May, some experts predicted that Superman 2025 would gross between $166 million and $175 million in its opening weekend.
Now, they’re saying it could gross as little as $90 million or as much as $145 million.
A new report from Box Office Theory on June 20th suggests an opening of $135 million to $175 million and a total of $370 million to $482 million in the U.S. That’s still big, but we didn’t expect it to!
Why are the numbers dropping?
So, what’s the deal? For one thing, there’s a lot of competition. Movies like Jurassic World Rebirth, which opens on July 2, and Fantastic Four: First Steps, which opens on July 25, are getting everyone’s attention.
Plus, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Smurfs are out in mid-July. Too many movies, not enough money to see them all!
Another thing? Superman premiered early on Amazon Prime on July 8. It sold out, but that means fewer people may show up for the official opening. It’s a new tactic, so no one’s sure how it’ll play out.

Experts still think Superman will do well. They say there are “strong indications” that tickets will sell out after the first day. But it all depends on the hype and reviews.

How much will it cost?
Here’s a fun fact: Superman 2025 cost $225 million to make! It needs $500 million worldwide to break even.
To be a big hit, it needs to reach $700 million. Right now, it’s probably going to break even – fingers crossed!

Fantastic Four: First Steps ? Its estimates have increased slightly, from $125 million to $155 million opening weekend.
