Melissa and Ivy Find a Cool Clue
So, Melissa and Ivy are on a mission to save Elijah from prison. They’ve been at it forever, but the District Attorney, Calloway, is being a jerk.
He says Elijah and Keith (Melissa’s shady dad) killed Heather together. Ugh, so annoying! But then, they look through some old photos of Heather and spot something cool a music bar in Dallas called Ziggy’s Basement.
Heather used to sing there as “Lorelai,” which is her grandma’s name.
Melissa and Ivy are like, “Let’s go check it out!” Oh, and Elijah’s lawyer, Gabriela, calls to say his court date got moved up. Things might actually work out!
Hazel’s Trip Goes Wrong
Meanwhile, Hazel—Melissa’s daughter—is sneaking around with her grandpa Keith’s secrets. He’s a serial killer, so not exactly a great role model.
Keith told her about Pioneer Falls Motel, where he hid stuff from his victims. Hazel’s friend Josh says he’ll drive her there, but he brings along Summer, Victoria, and Eva. Hazel’s bummed she wanted it to be just her and Josh.
They get to the motel, and it’s creepy and empty. They poke around, but all they find is a smelly dead bird. Gross!
Then, Summer tricks Hazel into going to the lobby, where there’s a rude note waiting. Next thing you know, her friends ditch her and drive off. Hazel’s stuck, so she calls Keith. Bad move, girl!
The Video That Saves Elijah
Back in Dallas, Melissa and Ivy hit up Ziggy’s Basement and talk to the owner, Ziggy. He’s got records of everyone who sang there.
They can’t find Heather at first, but then Melissa remembers her stage name, “Lorelai.” Jackpot! They find a tape from 1994, plus a video from the night Heather died.
It shows she was still alive when Elijah was supposed to have killed her. This is huge—it proves Elijah’s innocent! They’re so pumped to show it in court.
Joyce Drops a Bombshell
Things get messy again when Joyce, Elijah’s sister, spills some tea. Melissa finds a lipstick in Joyce’s room that belongs to Gillian, Keith’s girlfriend. Joyce admits Keith called her months ago, saying he killed Heather.
Then Gillian showed up with a secret phone for Joyce to talk to Keith and took pics of Heather’s case files.
Oh, and Joyce was the one who carved that Happy Face symbol on a tree way back in episode 2! Melissa’s freaking out maybe Keith’s lying about everything.
But Ivy’s like, “Chill, the video still proves Elijah didn’t do it.” Phew!
Elijah’s Free at Last
Court day arrives, and it’s epic. Gabriela shows the video from Ziggy’s Basement, and guess what? Calloway doesn’t even fight it he agrees Elijah should go free!
The judge says no new trial needed, just let him out now. Elijah walks out of prison, hugs Joyce, and feels the sun for the first time in years.
The news people go crazy snapping pics. Melissa even thanks Calloway, who says he’s quitting soon. It’s a total win for Elijah!
Hazel’s in Deep Trouble
But Hazel’s story? Not so happy. After her friends ditched her, a guy named Ennis Breeze picks her up at the motel.
He’s a true crime author who knows Keith—sketchy, right? He gives Hazel his card, and when she gets home, her dad, Ben, finds it.
Ben’s mad and worried because he sees Hazel’s been texting Keith too. He calls Melissa, who’s still celebrating Elijah’s release, and tells her the bad news.
Hazel’s getting way too close to Keith, and it’s scary.
