Renata Nunes is a cool cowgirl and she’s totally into bull riding. She’s 20 years old and while most of us are stressed out with homework or part-time jobs, Renata is riding wild bulls like it’s no big deal. And here’s the crazy part – she’s the daughter of a bull riding champ!
Renata was born in Brazil, but she grew up on a ranch in Texas. Her father, Renato Nunes, was a legend in the world of professional bull riders. He won the championship in 2010! When he retired in 2015, he moved back to Brazil and built a ranch with a bunch of bucking bulls. So, Renata was all about it.
She started riding bulls as a teenager. She was totally inspired by watching her father dominate the rodeo scene.
She said, “I want that too!” So she trained hard and rode in local competitions.
By 2024, she said, “See you, Brazil!” and moved to the United States to pursue her dreams. At first, it was hard — she even went home for a while because she felt lost.
But then she figured it out: She had to stop trying to be her father and just be herself.
Now, Renata lives in Marietta, Oklahoma. She works at South Lake Ranch, feeding animals and practicing her moves.
She’s there every day, getting better. When she’s not working or riding, she’s traveling.
She’s already made it to California, New York, and Colorado. Next on her list? Maybe Florida — she’s obsessed with the idea of riding a bull by the beach!
Her big goal? To win a championship buckle. She wants to prove that she’s not just “Renato’s girl.” Renata told me (well, not really, but imagine!), “I love riding bulls. It’s hard, but it’s my life.
I want to see that girls can do it too!” Last month, she had a blast at the Elite Lady Bull Riders competition, reaching the finals. She didn’t win, but she’s already excited for the next competition.
Renata is just getting started, and it’s so exciting! Will she be the next big name in bull riding? I’m sure she will!
