What can we say? There’s a new guy in Spider-Man comics, and he has some awesome powers! Marvel has just introduced a new character that has everyone freaking out.
He’s not just another hero or villain – he’s completely new. Let’s figure it out and meet this guy who’s shaking up the web-slinger world!
New SpiderMan character name: Roger
Who is this Roger guy?
So, Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1 , includes a story called “Rapid Advancements,” written by Chip Zdarsky and Kafu.
This massive explosion sends Peter Parker to New Jersey. But it’s no ordinary one – there’s a crazy energy field there that freezes everything inside.
Except for one guy walking around in a weird costume. Superhero? Villain? No one knows yet!
His name is Roger, and he’s just an ordinary father with a wife and a child.
He doesn’t get along well with his scientist father. One day, his father calls him out on it, calling him an idiot.
Roger rushes to the lab, but boom – Electro is already there, messing things up.
Electro destroys the invention, and suddenly Roger can create a forcefield that slows down time. How cool is that?

From family drama to superpowers
Roger’s father wasn’t just an idiot – he was trying to speed up cancer cells to beat his own brain cancer. But the unscrupulous people who paid him wanted a weapon instead.
They sent Electro to catch him, and Roger didn’t have one. He started stealing equipment to keep his father’s work alive, dodging Electro like a professional.
Here’s the funny part: Once, during a fight with his son over a video game, Roger accidentally slowed down time. He froze the room for ten minutes, which scared his son! Things like that make him wonder what to do next.

Spider-Man Steps In
Spider-Man jumps in and helps Roger take down Electro. They hook up his dad’s lab buddy to Stark Industries.
But Roger is still using his powers to slow down time for his dad. It’s so sweet—they’re making up for lost years. I’m going to cry, but I’m so excited!
Tony Stark comes in and says, “Hey, what’s up, Captain Rapid?” Roger says, “No, just Rapid’s addiction.” Spider-Man gets that too, especially since Roger tried to save Electro. There are some hero vibes there.

Why is Rapid a game-changer?
Marvel is promoting Rapid, saying he’ll “change the future of Marvel Comics.” He’s not a typical good guy or bad guy – just a guy with epic powers. Plus, he’s got Spider-Man and Iron Man in his corner. We’ll see him do more of the same soon!
Oh, and is this the first time he’s using his powers? He cut traffic to get coffee. Dude has some priorities! Imagine him teaming up with Spidey to prank Tony – speeding up the suit test. Hilarious!
