Oh my god, did The Simpsons really kill Marge? Fans are freaking out! The season 36 finale, “Stranger Things,” features a wild flash-forward where Marge dies.
The whole family is at her funeral, and it’s so sad. But wait – it’s not what you think.
The show loves to shock us, like when Maud Flanders died or when Homer was in a coma once. So, this isn’t completely random!
What happened in episode?
It starts with Marge worrying that Bart and Lisa aren’t close anymore. They don’t even watch Itchy & Scratchy together! Then, bam, it skips forward 35 years.
Lisa is making it in the NBA and Bart is running a retirement home. They find this sweet video of Marge asking them to stay together. It’s so emotional. After all, Marge is in heaven with Ringo Starr, and her tombstone reads, “Beloved wife, mother, pork butcher.” Funny, right?
Is Marge really gone?
No, not really! The Simpsons are always doing things in the future. Like, do you remember Lisa’s wedding? Or when they lived on Mars? Marge’s death is just a flash-forward, so she’s still alive in the regular timeline.
The show is locked in Season 40, so Marge won’t be leaving anytime soon. Oh, and funny thing: They tricked us with a fake series finale earlier this season. Terrible move, Simpsons!

Fans are losing
My friend Sarah was watching it with me and was crying like crazy. I was like, “Oh my god, she’s coming back!” Social media went into a frenzy.
Some people were yelling, “They can’t kill Marge!” Some were saying, “It’s just the future, relax.” There was chaos. I even saw this kid at school say that if Marge really left, he would boycott the show. Dude, she’s fine!
So yeah, no need to panic. Marge is watching many more episodes with Homer, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Crisis averted!
